Luton Sixth Form College’s future stars of radio have taken over the University of Bedfordshire’s community station, Radio LaB.

Students from the College’s BTEC Radio course have produced and presented their own shows over a two week period, enabling them to develop significant experience in the world of live broadcasting.

Radio LaB coordinator Terry Lee said: “The takeover is possibily the highlight of the year for Radio LaB. We love giving our platform to young Lutonians to share their views and make radio their way.”

Luton Sixth Form College radio teacher Andy Waterfeld said: “This is a real highlight for the College. We’re lucky to be able to work with Radio LaB and the University of Bedfordshire to provide such an excellent opportunity.”

The annual takeover gives students the opportunity to create a wide range of programmes, from music based shows to features and discussion.

Michelle Jones, a student taking part in the project, said the takeover is “an awesome experience” while fellow Luton Sixth Form student Julita Litkowiec commented "I'm loving it - thanks to the College and the University for setting this up.”

The students taking part are Adam Cain, Adrian Dominiak, Dexter Harvey, Nathan Holland, Michelle Jones, Julita Litkowiec, Kyle Morris, and Nuhman Rehman.
